Back on the Horse

Ok, I went 10 days without working out. Some of them I had my period and then I was just too tired to get up but today I went back. It was short because I didn’t get up as early as I needed to in order to get my full workout. I’ve noticed that the longer the break is between workouts, the harder it is for me to get up and go in the early morning. I’ve decided that for my next period, I’ll still go to the gym. Perhaps I won’t do some full on running but at least a 20 minute walk while reading or meditating. It depends on how I feel at the time. The idea is to stay in the habit and continue to feel that sense of acomplishment at having done my excercise.

I tried something new today too. I used my running time as an active meditation session. An idea from my friend, I’m saying a mantra throughout the whole workout. Today’s mantra was “I am Patient”. A couple of things happened. A lot of times it morphed into something else and I had to re-direct it back to the original thought. It morphed into “I am Patience” and as I was leaving the gym that is what I was hearing in my mind. Now, however, what runs through my mind is “I am Confident”.

This is interesting because confidence, enables me to be patient. If I’m confident that things will work out in the best way possible then I am patient. So this leads me to understand that my lack of patience is rooted in my lack of confidence. WOW. Revalation City.

That same friend sent me an e-mail quoting this from Conversations with God (Book 1):

This place of knowing is a place of intense and incredible gratitude. It is a thankfulness in advance. And, that, perhaps, is the biggest key to creation: to be grateful before, and for, the creation. Such taking for granted is not only condoned, but encouraged. It is the sure sign of mastery. All Masters know in advance that the deed has been done.

It’s wonderful that I can see how this week has all come together. I’m very happy about that. Right now I’m contemplating whether in tomorrow’s workout I continue with I am Patience or move on to I am Confidence. The original plan was to do the same Mantra all week. I wonder if it makes more sense to just evolve with the mantra as it unfolds to something else. Yet, what if there’s more to be seen in terms of patience?
